Number of Medical seats increases in Guj
The Medical Council of India (MCI) which is the apex body and in-charge of medical education across the nation has lifted ban on two medical institutes in Gujarat.
The ban has been lifted from Sola Medical College in Sola Civil Hospital and Gujarat Adani Institute of Medical Sciences. This will multiply the number of medical seats in Gujarat.

The Sola Medical College is promoted by the state government. The college couldn't function from last year due to non-compliance with the several requirements for medical colleges prescribed by MCI. The ban on Gujarat Adani Institute of Medical Sciences , Bhuj was put under 'No Admission Zone' on temporary basis. But, now the college has 150 seats to offer for MBBS programme from this year.

However, another medical college at Gotri in Vadodara which was banned along with Sola Medical College last year is yet to receive clearance from MCI.Many more medical colleges are awaiting approval by MCI, once recieved the approval Gujarat will be having more than 2055 medical seats to offer.
