Even though India has maintained its second position, there has been a drastic decline in numbers. Two other South Asian countries, Nepal (down 19 percent) and Sri Lanka (17 percent), have also followed India in the downward spiral.
Even though the Australian immigration department has relaxed student visa rules for India from 2 April 2011, the industry is yet to experience the kind of 'gold rush' as before the laws were tightened.
