4 toppers , 227 from TN cracks IIT-JEE 2011

This year southern region is shining bright with all exam results. CBSE results proved Chennai (Tamil Nadu) as one of the successful region in delivering best results and now with IIT-JEE results are out, Chennai has more success stories to offer.

About 227 students cleared the IIT-JEE exam out of 8,583 students who appeared from Tamil Nadu in IIT-JEE 2011. 4 candidates out of 227 have made it to the top 100 list. Vipul Venkatraman has cliamed the 63rd rank and is the state topper. C Yeshwant has claimed a rank of 67 closely followed by N Vaishnavh at 70. E Dhivya has managed to claim a rank of 96 in this year IIT-JEE. Last year Tamil Nadu could not made its mark in the top 100 in IIT-JEE results. 13,602 candidates have cleared IIT-JEE who will compete for 9,618 seats available in 15 IITs of the country. Last year, there were 9,509 seats in all the IITs, while there are 9,618 this year.

According to reports, Vipul Venketraman said he was not good at studies and have lot of interest in cricket. He has played and represented Chennai. But, now, he is planning to claim a seat in IIT-Madras to finish his B.Tech in either computer science or electrical and electronic engineering. C.Yeshwant have similar plans. Vaishnavh and Dhivya have plans to take up B Tech degrees in computer science from IIT-Madras.
