In order to prevent unfortunate incidents like Tri Valley University episode, the Human Resource Development (HRD) Ministry has decided to put control over enrollment agents who facilitate admission of Indian students in foreign universities.
The Ministry of Overseas Indian Affairs is piloting an upcoming bill titled the Emigration Management Bill, in which the HRD ministry has mooted for changes.Compulsory registration of enrollment agents and the creation of a database of students that would be going abroad for education are being suggested for by the HRD ministry.
The new Bill proposes to modify the emigration procedure into a simple, efficient and transparent economic process so that it facilitates legal migration and also helps in enhancing the welfare and protection of students and workers. The bill will soon be sent to the Cabinet for approval.Currently, India does not have any accurate database that contains the names of students who have gone abroad for education.
