10,000 medical seats to be increased through NEET 2017

The medical seats will be increased by 10,000 in the year 2017 through National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET). Union minister of state for Health and Family welfare Faggan Singh Kulaste said in the second healthcare summit - Rajasthan 2016 that the medical seats will be increased through the upgradation of the medical colleges.

58 medical colleges to be upgraded

He said that 58 medical colleges across the country will be upgraded within this time frame.

"The ministry is taking all steps to provide medical and health services to people. Efficient services are being made available to public with the help of IT," the minister said.

NEET exam has been introduced by the government to clean up mess involved in the medical entrance exams. The motive of having a centralized exam is to give admissions to meritorious students in medical colleges without taking any extra fee or donation from them.
