By Deepak

After completion of graduation, there is hardly any time to take a break to relax and think what to do and where to get admitted. Even though you have a vacation of a month or so, either your teachers, friends or relatives would keep asking you about which university you would be joining and what your future plans are for boosting your academic career. Though these questions may annoy or irritate you, it is quite important to know which stream are you going to take up for higher studies and which university should you get into to chisel an excellent future for yourselves.

Karnataka has universities which are the dream destinations for any student who wishes to go for higher studies. Of course, there are Central Universities, State Universities and Private Universities to choose from; but there are Deemed Universities also which are popular among knowledge seekers due to their sheer performance and delivering up to the expectations of the students. So when you are looking for a university to continue your studies, it is significant to see if the university is run by Centre or State or it is a private or deemed university.

What is a Deemed University?

Deemed university is an accreditation given to institutions providing higher education in India. The accredited institutions enjoy the status of a university. Department of Higher Education confers deserving institutions with the aforementioned status.

According to the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), any institution, other than the universities, providing higher education has proved its full potential in imparting absolute quality education in a particular area of study, is suitable to be declared a Deemed University. Such a recommendation is made by the University Grants Commission (UGC) to the Central Government. Once these higher educational institutions become Deemed Universities, they start enjoying the same academic status and privileges usually enjoyed by a university.
