Celebrities are always the talk of the town. Some sing, some act, some make us laugh, and they always remain on the tip of our tongues. Either through yellow journalism, or just by word of mouth, the common human tends to publicize the lives of these talented men and women.

But one thing that we usually miss is the education that these people have received. We have to acknowledge that getting a college degree, and in some cases moving forward for a post-doctoral degree, while handling a public life is not easy.

Why is Education Important You Ask?

Well it is like a second option. What if your plans don't work out the way you want? You always need a back up. At the same time, if one has true passion for a subject, they should definitely study it.

While many celebrities have taken up the roads of education long before they ventured into their line of work, there are many others who continued studying even while they acted or while they wrote scripts that made us laugh at late night shows.

James Franco

This actor has the best movies in his pocket. We all remember him as Harry Osborn from the Spiderman series that came up in the 2000's. As time moved, he developed into an amazing actor whose choice of films are always appreciated.

His Education?

Mr. Franco had joined University of California for an English and Drama programe, but had to drop out to make his dreams of becoming an actor. Later, when he got the chance, he returned and earned his undergraduate degree rather than just leaving for good. He later pursued for his Master of Fine Arts from New York University for Film making and Columbia University for Writing. He is currently pursuing his PhD in English from Yale University.

 

Emma Watson

Hermione Granger came into our lives, and taught us the importance of books and education.
The actress who played the character is no different. Emma Watson,went back to finish her studies after the completion of the last installment of the Harry Potter series.

Her Education?

She joined the Brown university in providence, Rhode Island, from where she graduated with a bachelor's degree in English Literature.
The course took five years, instead of four because of her commitment to her work. She is also a certified Yoga and Meditation trainer. She actively works towards education for girls around the world.

Rowan Atkinson

How can any one forget Mr. Bean dropping off mysteriously under a spot light and warming up to his teddy. The actor who gave us such memories from our childhood is Rowan Atkinson.

His Education?

As dumb his character may look, Atkinson is quite the opposite with a Bachelors in Electrical Engineering from Newcastle University and a Masters in the same from The Queen's College, Oxford. While in college he was part of drama clubs, where he would develop the idea for his character, Mr. Bean.

Mallika Dua

If you don't know this talented bundle of joy, then you must have been living under a rock all this while. Ms. Dua entered the lives of Indians with her Dubsmash and SnapChat recordings, portraying funny, sarcastic and comic situations of daily life. Her caricatures of the Punjabi crowd from Delhi gained her a lot of attention and the rest is history, with her performing with comedians like Tanmay Bhatt, Sumukhi Suresh and Kaneez Surkha.

What many might not know is that Dua has a degree in Theater, from Franklin and Marshall college, USA. She has been vocal about how the experience in theater has helped her to develop many of her ideas and execute them. She started her career in Advertising following which her work with comedy kick started

 

Art Garfunkel

Who doesn't know this legend. Simon and Garfunkel was an American Folk rock duo with Art Garfunkel as the singer and Paul Simon as the singer and songwriter. They have been recognized as icons of counterculture from the 1960's, and have 'The sound of Silence', 'Mrs.Robinson' and 'The Boxer' to their list of super hit songs.

His Education?

Garfunkel earned his major in Architecture from Columbia University and was part of a fraternity called Alpha Epsilon Pi. In 1965, he earned his Bachelors degree in Art History followed by a Masters degree in Mathematics Education. In the following years, the duo Simon and Garfunkel started making songs together and their career took different turns.

Lisa Kudrow

Even before we say it, you know what jumped into your heads, 'The Smelly cat song.' Kudrow gave a generation of people the eccentric and loving Phoebe Buffay in the TV show Friends that went on air from 1994 to 2004, but is still binge watched. Kudrow is best known for her other TV shows like The Comeback and Web Therapy while making appearance in many movies and TV shows.

What the public doesn't know is that Kudrow has a Bachelors of science in Biology from Vassar College, New York. She intended to follow the footsteps of her father and helped him and his group of researchers for eight years while working on her acting career. She even has a research credit for one his studies.

Amitabh Bachchan

The original Angry-young man of Bollywood who is revered and respected as the godfather of the industry, has many movies to his credit. He has received the Honorary Padma Shri, Padma Bhushan and Padma Vibhushan from the Government of India for his contributions to films. He is a lover of poetry and is also a singer.

His Education?


Mr. Bachchan finished his graduation from Sherwood College in Nainital and pursued higher studies. He went on to get a double major in Arts and Science from Kirori Mal College, which is situated in the North Campus of the University of Delhi. He was also conferred with an Honorary Doctorate by the Egyptian Academy of Arts for his contribution to Cinema.

Yes! there might be fame, money and lot of success in area like acting, singing, comedy, or having a Youtube channel. But one must never close the doors on education.
