JAM 2016: PwD candidates should submit declaration form before Nov 30

The Joint Admission Test (JAM) 2016 is scheduled to be conducted on February 7.

The examination will be held for admissions to integrated Ph.D Degree Programmes at IISc Bangalore and M.Sc (two years), Joint MSc-PhD, MSc-PhD Dual Degree, MSc MTech, and other Post-Bachelor Degree Programmes at IITs.

IIT Madras will be conducting the exam wherein approximately 1629 seats are vacant at various IITs and IIScs.

The PwD candidates should submit the declaration form(s) on or before November 30. As per the Persons with Disability (PwD) Act, 1995, a candidate can be declared as a PwD candidate if he/she suffers from any of the disabilities to the extent of not less than 40 percent as certified by a competent and registered medical board/authority.

A candidate can be defined as PwD candidate for JAM 2016 examination only if the candidate is suffering from the following disabilities:

  • Poor vision/Blindness
  • Loss of limb
  • Locomotor disability
  • Cerebral Palsy
  • Hearing problems

Paper pattern for JAM 2016:

The paper pattern for the competitive exam is detailed below:

The exam will be a Computer Based Test (CBT).

  • No of papers: 7
  • Question pattern: Objective
  • Types of Questions: There will be 3 types of question, they are:

Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ): Each MCQ type question has four choices out of which only one choice is the correct answer

Multiple Select Questions (MSQ): Each MSQ type question will also have four choices but there may be one or more than one choice(s) that are correct out of the given choices

Numerical Answer Type (NAT) Questions: For each NAT type question, the answer will be a signed real number which needs to be entered using the virtual keypad on the monitor. A virtual calculator will also be available on the computer monitor. No choices will be shown for these type of questions.
