WBJEE Eligibility Criteria

Candidates must meet the required eligibility criteria of WBJEE 2015 in order to appear for the West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination 2015. WBJEE 2015 eligibility criteria specifies the academic requirements along with pass percentage and age limits for admissions to the engineering courses, Medical and Dental Courses in West Bengal.

The eligibility criteria for WBJEE 2015 is as follows:

  • Applicant must be a citizen of India
  • Candidate must be 17 years of age or above as on 31 December of the year of examination
  • There is no upper age limit except for the Marine Engineering courses for which the upper age limit is 20 years as on 1 January of the year of exam

For all the courses except B. Arch, B. Pharmacy and Marine Engineering the candidate has to fulfill the below requirements

  • Must pass H.S. (10+2) or its equivalent examination with minimum of 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics taken together (40% for SC/ST candidates) and with at least 30% marks in English (for all category of candidates) with individual pass in Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, English and Vernacular/any other fifth subject

Residential requirements

Candidates seeking admissions to government engineering/technology colleges, govt, medical and Dental colleges as well as to private Medical and Dental colleges must have been residing in the state of West Bengal at least for last 10 years as on 31 December of the year of exam and their parents must be resident of West Bengal having their permanent home address in the state.

WBJEE 2015 Eligibility Criteria for Engineering / Technology Courses (For colleges/institutes other than Jadavpur university)

  • Candidates must have passed the Higher Secondary Examination (10+2 level) or its equivalent examination with an aggregate of 45% (40% for SC/ST/PwD)

  • They must have studied Physics, and Mathematics as compulsory subjects with Chemistry/Biotechnology/Biology/Technical Vocational Subjects (Engineering Drawing / Computer Science) as optional subjects

  • They must have secured at least 30% marks in English (applicable for candidates from all categories)

  • Candidates must also have individual pass marks in each of Physics,Mathematics, English as well as the optional subject chosen (Chemistry/Biotechnology/Biology/Technical Vocational Subjects (Engineering Drawing / Computer Science)

  • Candidates must be at least 17 years of age as on December 31, 2015

WBJEE 2015 Eligibility Criteria for Engineering / Technology Courses For Jadavpur University and Calcutta University (excluding Dept of Jute & Fibre technology)

  • Candidates must have passed the Higher Secondary Examination (10+2 level) or its equivalent examination

  • They must have passed Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics with an aggregate of 60% (55% for SC/ST/PwD)

  • They must have secured at least 30% marks in English ( applicable for candidates from all categories)

  • Candidates must also have individual pass marks in Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and English

  • Candidates must be at least 17 years of age as on December 31, 2015.

WBJEE 2015 Eligibility criteria for Marine Engineering

  • Candidates must have passed the Higher Secondary Examination (10+2 level) or its equivalent examination

  • They must have secured an aggregate of 60% in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics.

  • They must have secured at least 50% marks in English in either 10th or 12th standard.

  • Age Limit: Candidates must be at least 17 years of age as on December 31, 2015. They must not be above 25 years of age as on 31 July, 2015.

WBJEE 2015 Eligibility for Architecture course

  • Candidate with less than 50% marks in aggregate shall be admitted unless he/she has passed an Examination at the end of the new 10+2 scheme of senior school certificate Examination or equivalent with Mathematics as a subject of Examination at the 10+2 level and also pass an Aptitude Test as specified by Council of Architecture.

  • Note: It is mandatory for candidate to pass in Mathematics subject at 10+2 level

WBJEE 2015 Eligibility criteria for candidates through JEE Main 2015

  • Candidates can avail admissions in Private Self Financing Colleges through JEE Main 2015

  • To apply they must qualify in JEE Main 2015

  • 10% of setas will be available to candidates under the JEE Main 2015 Quota

  • The eligibility for candidates is the same as that of WBJEE 2015 as above.

Eligibility criteria for Medical/Dental courses

  • Candidates should have passed Higher Secondary examination of West Bengal Council of Higher secondary Education or Equivalent examination recognised by the West Bengal University of Health Sciences.

  • Candidates should have secured individual passing marks in Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English

  • Minimum of 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry , Biology taken together (40% for SC/ST candidates, 45% OBC-A, OBC-B candidates) and 30% marks in English (For all categories of candidates) is required to fill by the candidate.

  • Candidates will have to apply separately to the Central Board of Secondary Education, New Delhi
