About The Maharaja Sayajirao University
The Maharaja Sayajirao University (MSU), Vadodara was established in 1949.
The university was founded by Sir Pratapsinghrao Gaekwad and it is named in the honor of Maharaja Sayajirao.
The University is run by Sir Sayajirao Diamond Jubilee and Memorial Trust.
The trust caters the needs of the people of the former state of Baroda.
The main objective of establishing the University is to provide a distinct type of university- a teaching and residential university which should have complete freedom in all academic matters and would be free to institute new branches of studies suited to the needs and aspirations of the region in particular and of the country in general.
