St. Teresa’s College, Autonomous is committed to enriching the lives of our students by empowering them. We provide holistic education that enables them to actively participate in community life. Womens’ education is a crucial factor that contributes to nation building and for the past ninety eight years we have been educating young women from different strata of our society.
 
The concept of education needs to change keeping in mind the needs of the present generation of learners and we strive to equip them with the necessary skill sets to meet the different challenges that they may be required to meet.
 
St.Teresa’s College, a pioneering institution in the field of Higher Education in India, was established on 15th June in the year 1925, as the first Women’s College of the erstwhile Cochin State and the second in the whole of Kerala by the Congregation of the Carmelite Sisters of St.Teresa. The College started with Sr.Beatrice as its first Principal and Mother Veronica as the first Manager and a student strength of just 41. While high academic standards were maintained in the college from the very start, students were also taught the value and dignity of labour, good social relationship and above all, lasting spiritual values. College was a second grade Arts College affiliated to the Madras University and offered the Intermediate Course with Ancient History, Modern History and Logic under Part lll.

 

The college was the first women's college of the erstwhile Cochin state and the second in the whole of Kerala by the congregation of the Carmelite sisters of St.Teresa.

VISION

St.Teresa’s College envisions a life-oriented education that empowers women through a humanizing and liberative process, to be agents of transformation and development at different levels of life. They are empowered to respond actively to concerns and conflicts inherent in today’s world. Our thrust is in the creation of a civilization of love as envisaged and promoted by our Foundress, Mother Teresa of St. Rose of Lima.

CENTRAL SECTOR SCHOLARSHIP: Scheme to provide Top Class Education for SC Students initiated by the Department of Social Justice and Empowerment, Govt. of Kerala.
 
THE KERALA STATE HIGHER EDUCATION SCHOLARSHIP: Students from Mahatma Gandhi/Kerala/Calicut University who have passed +2 with the marks as: ST-pass; SC-60%; OBC- 65%; Others 75%; Physically challenged- 45%. Eligible candidates of I year degree can approach the scholarship counter for application form.
 
PRATHIBHA SCHOLARSHIP: The programme provides scholarship for students who have qualified meritoriously in the Higher Secondary Examination from Kerala for pursuing Degree/Post Graduate courses in Basic/ Natural Science in Institutions/ Universities in India.
 
MINORITY WELFARE SCHOLARSHIP: Scheme provides financial assistance to the poor and meritorious students of the minority community
 
PALOLI MOHAMMED KUTTY SCHOLARSHIP: A scholarship for a girl student of muslim community and a native of Kerala, studying for the first year of Graduation or Higher courses in Govt./ Aided Institution. Student who got admission to Self financing colleges from merit seat are also eligible to apply for this scholarship. She should have scored 50% or above in the qualifying Examination and the family annual income should not exceed 2.5 Lakhs.
 
H. MOHAMMED KOYA SCHOLARSHIP: Scholarships to girl students belonging to the Muslim Community or Latin Catholic Community or Converted Christians (Scheduled Caste Velar Community), studying in Government/Government Aided Institutions for Under Graduate Programme in the first year of the course. The scheme has Scholarships and Hostel Stipends.
 
UNIVERSITY MERIT SCHOLARSHIP: Only Students from Mahatma Gandhi University can apply. The first 15 top scorers from each class should bring the attested copies of Higher Secondary and S.S.L.C. mark list to the scholarship counter.
 
KERALA STATE GOVT. MERIT SCHOLARSHIP: Students who s e c u r e 6 0 % o f m a r k s a n d a b o v e f r o m M a h a t m a Gandhi/Kerala/Calicut University can apply. Eligible candidates can approach to the scholarship counter for application form.
 
KERALA STATE MERIT CUM MEANS SCHOLARSHIP: Students from Mahatma Gandhi/Kerala/Calicut University can apply. Those who have secured I Class and whose parent’s annual income is below Rs.10000/-(for Degree) and Rs.12000/- (for P.G.) can apply. Eligible candidates can approach the scholarship counter for application form.
 
HINDI SCHOLARSHIP: Students from Non Hindi speaking states can apply. Those who have taken Hindi as their second language with 80% marks can apply. Application form can be
had from the scholarship counter.
 
MUSLIM/NADAR SCHOLARSHIP: Students with 60% marks and whose parents annual income is Rs. 6000/- and below can apply. Eligible candidates should contact the scholarship counter.
 
SCHOLARSHIP FOR PHYSICALLY HANDICAPPED: Physically handicapped students can apply. Students with 40% marks and whose parent’s annual income is below Rs.25000/-can apply. Eligible candidates should contact the scholarship counter.
 
FISHERIES SCHOLARSHIP: Only children of Fishermen are Such students can approach the scholarship counter after enrolling in the college.
 
JNB FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIPS: The JNB Foundation in Ernakulam awards scholarships to 25 deserving students on a merit- cum-means basis.
 
PLATINUM JUBILEE EDUCATIONAL SCHOLARSHIPS: Instituted by the St. Teresa’s College Platinum Jubilee Trust, the scholarships are awarded to 25 students of the undergraduate classes and 5 students of the post-graduate classes on a merit-cum-means basis. This is in keeping with the spirit of St. Teresa’s College, which has always been keen to help the under privileged.
 
SCHOLARSHIPS BY THE STARS: Teresa’s Association of Retired staff awards scholarships to 25 deserving students.
 
TESSA MERIT-CUM-MEANS SCHOLARSHIP: The Staff of the College has set up the Sr. Tessa merit-cum-means scholarship in honor of former Principal of the College. It is awarded to the students who show remarkable improvement in their studies as well as development of their other gifts and talents.
 
N. C. MARYKUTTY ENDOWMENT SCHOLARSHIP: Prof. N. C. Marykutty endowment to be given to a deserving student in the Department of Botany.
 
TERESA DE LIMA SCHOLARSHIP for a deserving student.
 
SCHOLARSHIP BY THE 1983 DEGREE BATCH: Instituted on the occasion of their silver jubilee to be given to a deserving student.
 
PTA SCHOLARSHIP: Instituted by the PTA members to the deserving student.
 
SPECIAL SCHOLARSHIP: for a deserving student.
 
ALUMNI SCHOLARSHIP: Instituted by the alumni members of the college to the students of UG & PG classes on a merit-cum-means basis.
 
NAVATHI SCHOLARSHIP: awarded to 90 students on the basis of their academic merit, a scholarship which covers half the course fee will be given to students who maintain excellence in their academics.
 
DISTRICT MERIT SCHOLARSHIP: Students who are in receipt of District Merit Scholarship for Higher Secondary can renew their scholarship for Degree course. Eligible candidates
should contact the scholarship counter.
 
SNEHAPOORVAM: Children who have lost their Father or Mother and who belong to BPL or APL Category with annual income below Rs. 20,000/- in rural areas and Rs.22,375/- in urban areas.
