Programme for Young Indian Lawyers

Under this programme 12 corporate lawyers from India are taken on a three month programme to the College of Law, York. This is followed by 6 weeks of attachments with firms of solicitors in London.

Programme for Young Indian Bankers

Here, 12 banking professionals from India are taken on a three month programme, comprising of academic inputs provided by the London School of Economics and Political Science. This is followed by work attachments with London banks and financial institutions.

Programme for young Indian Broadcast Journalists

Eight experienced broadcast journalists from television and radio are taken to participate in Thomson Foundation's annual three-month course in news and current affairs broadcasting, based in Cardiff.

Wolfson College Press Fellowship Programme

This programme allows established journalists to undertake a three month project at Wolfson College, Cambridge University.

Manchester Business School's Senior Executive Course

Here, senior private sector managers are taken to attend a four week strategic management programme.

Gurukul Scholarships in Leadership and Excellence

A programme for senior persons from various disciplines who have demonstrated their leadership and excellence in their area of work, to attend a twelve week programme at the London School of Economics and Political Science.

Sponsorship

The annual budget has been enhanced by £300,000 from British universities in the shared scheme. We welcome corporate sponsorship in India and in Britain to set up new schemes for Indian students. Such schemes will be jointly named after the corporate sponsor and the British Chevening scholarships.

Commonwealth Scholarships and Fellowships

In collaboration with the Government of India, the British Council administers fifty-five awards for the Association of Commonwealth Universities each year. The annual budget for India is £1.5 million. Subject areas include medicine, engineering, technology, science (pure and applied), agriculture and allied fields, humanities and social sciences.
